Some students speak English as their native language and some speak another language as their native language, so I have dealt with a variety of different backgrounds! I love seeing the look on a student's face when they grasp a new concept and understand something new. It's very empowering for them and brightens my day to be able to help someone. I am trained in different learning styles (audio, visual, kinesthetic) and have the ability to help a student with their specific learning needs. I have also worked at UW - La Crosse as an intern with Dr. Jorge Aguilar-Sanchez to design online quizzes and activities for his SPA 101 and 102 classes. I studied abroad in San José, Costa Rica twice - once for five weeks with a study abroad program and again independently for six months. There I taught at Amerikano Estudios where I taught English to children and students up to high school/college age and did medical interpreting for a volunteer chiropractic clinic called La Clinica de La Mariposa. I went back to Costa Rica most recently in 2012 to teach English as a corporate trainer for Intel, and also at a technical school for high school students. Each experience was very rewarding! In addition to teaching English, I am also a dance teacher. I am a certified Zumba instructor and I also teach Latin dance such as salsa, merengue, bachata, and cumbia, which is more instructional and not just for fitness. I have a passion for many things! I have also given voice lessons in the past. In the future, I may teach psychology and counseling courses at the college level.

I love singing, dancing, and I am also a Zumba instructor! I love singing karaoke when I am out with friends and I studied Jazz Voice for 3 years at Western Michigan University. When I am at home, I love cooking and another hobby is interior design. I also enjoy hiking, biking and Latin dance, including salsa, merengue, bachata and cumbia.
